|
|
I always see blood drives in town where they advertise for new donors, but as of yet never managed to go. I once rang the helpline but because I was on a few tablets, they said best not to give it just yet. I don't know if this has now changed? I've always thought it a good idea to donate, you never know when you might need it yourself. I'm not squeamish and luckily I'm not afraid of having my blood taken so I might see about being a donor this year.
Do any of you give blood? Does it make you feel tired or anything?

It's so easy , i mean i hate needles but as long as you don't look its fine doesn't hurt at all
Yes you can get tired after and you have to be careful ..no booze for 24 hours.. i went straight from docs once n ended up pissed as a newt after 1 beer ! _________________

Can you go straight home after, or do you have to lay down like they show you in old films? Does it make you feel tired or anything Shirley? _________________

i used to give blood all the time till i stopped when i was pregnant with my first, obviously you're not allowed to donate pregnant lol. That took up the next 8 years or so due to pregnancy or breastfeeding and i haven't got around to doing it again, but i do want to so i think i will next time its here. Last time i did it you get a cuppa and a biccy afterwards, can't remember having to lie down for long though. _________________ An egotist has one point in his favor - he doesn't go around talking about other people! |

I've given blood twice, at school blood drives. Both times I got sick, though. Nearly threw up, they had to put ice packs all over me, thought I was gonna black out. They told me next time I should eat something before I give blood, then I wouldn't feel so sick afterwards...so, if you go, eat something beforehand. _________________ Sometimes I don't think birds are really talking to each other. | I went to give blood once but there was a query as my dad as a problem with his blood being to thick ! he had to go every month and have blood taken from him( lots ) he thought they would thin the blood and use it again but no it had to be disposed off. I haven't been since but really should try again as you never now , I had to have a transfusion once as I lost loads during surgery so thanks to the person who did donate , |
