just re-watched Class Of 1984.

made in 1982, Class Of 1984 in an ultra-violent high school drama. starring Perry King as the new music teacher at a tough city high school. he soon comes face to face with student gang leader Timothy Van Patten & his intimidating vicious gang. King has many encounters with the gang, but the police are unable to prosecute them due to lack of evidence & their young age.

King & Patten are brilliant in their roles, ably supported by performances from veteran Roddy McDowell & a fresh-faced Michael J. Fox.

the film is well before it's time & some great ideas are brought to the screen. director Mark Lester is probably best known for Schwarzenegger action fest Commando.

I thought that I'd seen this, but reading your recount, I'm not so sure I have. Will watch out for it and give it a go.

i think UK's "horror channel" shows it sometimes, but of course, snob that i am (!) i had to add the disc to the Skippy collection!!..

some people will view it as exploitation, it is, but it's so much more than that as well.
