So I've been getting into metal lately! I was checking up on Epica, looking for songs I haven't heard yet, and that got me looking into more bands of the same type...so here are some that I like.

I've been an Epica fan for a few years now. They are a Dutch symphonic gothic metal band, and the singer Simone Simmons has an amazing operatic voice. This is one of their newer songs:

Never Enough - Epica:

Another band of this same type, though not always classified as symphonic, is Within Temptation. They sound sort of like Evanescence...but better, in my opinion. This is my favorite song by WT:

Frozen - WT:

Also another symphonic gothic metal band is Leaves' Eyes. They have more of a folk sound than Epica, and I don't think singer Liv Kristine has as strong a voice as Simone Simmons, but she's still good and the band is alright.

Senses Capture - Leaves' Eyes:

i hadn't heard of the first band, i've seen Within Temptation alot on europe's metal TV channels (i think they changed singer recently!?) & Leaves' Eyes; never heard of them, but the singer's got a fantastic voice.

they all sound very heavily produced - like Evanescence - which isn't a bad thing as makes their sounds fill the speakers beautifully.

personally, i prefer old school 80s goth rock, like the Sisters Of Mercy. recently there's been loads of goth-ish sounding bands coming out, some good, some not so good.
here's an electro band i like with a very electro-goth track & amazing video... Ladytron - "Everything You Touch"

I have a friend who sings in a band a little similiar.
I've known her since she was little ( her mum worked for me) n gave her a sat job when she was 14, it been great watching her progress all these years with her music and we still keep in touch via net n fone..she had her 1st 'proper' gig in March n it sounds like she's getting there slowly but surely.

here's there myspace profile with a few of their songs on them

Took a listen, they sound pretty good! Well on their way, it seems.

I like Within Tempation's song 'Mother Earth'.
Do you like Lacuna Coil? They're not really this type of music but they're still good. You might like to check out some of their stuff.
