My first Cinema experience was to see Bambi. I remember my nan taking us. Sitting on those red velvet covered seats, sitting up the top balcony, feeling OH so grand! Buying icecream from the usherette, funny how that sticks in your mind. The second film she took us to see was Walt Disneys Seven Dwarfs, it was marvellous, and I couldn't have been very old.
So what was your first Cinema outing to see?

I think Iit was called the dark crystal, I cant really remember that much about the film. But I can remember my friend Kerry, Running round the balcony screaming, and her Mum Linda chasing her. Our mum never took us to the cinema with them again lol
The second film we saw was Pinocchio |

Golly this takes me back. Used to go to the Saturday matinee. The town practically emptied of kids in those days with everyone at the pictures. Got into the picutres with a bag of sweets for less than a shilling (that's abot the same as today's 10p coin for all you young things!
Can't mind the very first film but I remember the serial they used to play
"Flash Gordon" - now I am giving my age away but good good times |

I remember going to the Saturday morning pictures. We used to get 25p pocket money and that got us in the cinema and a bag of sherbet from the sweet shop oppostie. I remember singing along with the words on the screen that were highlighted by a bouncing ball, 'We are the girls and boys well known as minors of the ABC'! can't remember any more words lol. Each week they showed episodes from various films, one was a space film about a metal frog like spaceship some kids had found. Another was an Arabian adventure, all great fun, as long as you didn't miss a week lol.
Going back to the sherbet, it was the bright coloured sand-like stuff, served from huge jars, I used to like a mixture of pink and yellow, they put it in a paper bag for you, then we'd sit all through the film, dipping our finger in and sucking it off, to come out in the daylight with a brightly dyed finger!! Wonder what they put in that stuff? lol you dont see it nowadays...ahhhh those were the days |
