Bills Bills Billsok so I put money away so that when bills come in I can pay them, but why is it all the major ones come in at once? This past week I have had my dual electric/gas bill in for over £300, which I nearly fell through the floor at, it was well over normal ! then in came the water bill, £400 +...then today in came the car tax £180!!! It really hits home how much you have to spend out when they all come in at once doesn't it ?!
Wouldn't it be great to win one of those competitions where you get your bills paid for a year ! ?

BILLS are a nightmare I've changing my payment card (elec) to the key (grr) as when i took on the card my monthly payment was averaged at £40pm 2yr ago I upped the payment myself so to insure the rises were taken into account now I get a letter saying I'm £300 in debt !!!!! and to clear it they want £IOOpm yea right dream on so now it's over to the dreaded key but at least I'll now exactly how much I use a month , add to that the new council tax , and water rates yet to arrive oh heaven help us ,

my gas and electric are on keys ,i know exactly how much i pay, yea i pay about a £1 for the privilege , but i say to the kid;s once that 's gone this month there,s no more, it has been a great way to stop the kid's leaving lights. t.v on al. night, also made me think with the heating, like do i really need heating on ,and most of the time it's no, i'm sooooooo pleased i dont have those bills coming in quartely.

Having keys makes you think twice and thats always a good thing, i always put money up to cover it, but this time it wasn't enough, I couldn't foresee the price rise

Sorry to be a bit ignorant, but what are keys ??? Is it like electric cards ?
My bills seem to be getting higher and higher, I'm going to cancel my mobile contract next month, that will save us £36 per month! I hardly use it lately. So will get a pay as you go.
Deb are you on a water metre ? Or is that water rates per year ?

Mine is a water bill I don't have a meter....would dread to think how much it would be WITH a meter!! Is everyone else on meters>?

no i'm not but i used to be years ago when they first came out and i was living in a brand new house. first month after we moved in, the water board knocked on my door, they'd been reading the meters and mine was exceptionally high so they were checking if i had a leak somewhere. i'd used the same amount in that month as a swimming pool!! after checking they found that the toilet cistern was set too high on fill up and was permanently draining outside. now i knew none of us had done it, my eldest child was only 2 so they couldn't have, but that first MONTHS bill was £500!!! i put a complaint into the builders but they said all meters had been checked when they'd finished and were all the same so they couldn't have done it so we were responsible . Very expensive lesson, and if it hadn't been for the water meter, which i DO NOT agree with it wouldn't have happened. all my other bills i pay on a budget planner, so i pay the same all year round, much much better.

when Imoved into my house I was given the opportunity to change to a water meter went through all the water useage extra washingmachine, bath, shower, dishwasher ,etc and they worked it out that it would be cheaaper to change as only 2 ppl live in the house he informed me that more then 2 in house is when the water meter works out more expensive as my daughter was moving in didn't go for it , my parents are on a water meter and they actually save money don't think it's a great deal but when your on a pension every penny counts .
Dreama did you end up paying the full amount ? thats digusting if you did at the end of the day the person who set the cistern was responsible did you not go to citizen advice or the like for some advice ?

I pay my leccy and gas by DD both with npower , just had my elec bill for past 3 months of £115 , i still have £38 in credit but they are raising my DD to £41 a month from £ 23 ffs why ????
Will be getting a phonecall from me, cba today, will wait till Monday be in a worse mood then lolol
I am dreading the Gas Bill thats usually double the leccy and the only thing i have on Gas is the heating system .
My DD for water has gone up £7 a month , Rent £3.50 a week and no doubt the Council Tax will be around 8% , makes you wonder how we survive because my annual pay rise is never anymore than 2.5 %

Bloody hell Shell! thats awful and especially if you ended up paying for it! I'm sure someone else should have taken responsibility for it, but I'd be like you and pay it. Maybe you shoudl have sent a letter in to Watchdog, maybe they'd have squashed it
DD sounds good to pay for utilities but I'd worry that it would end up me owing them loads, I've heard people that have had that happen.
I can't abide the council tax and I'm in the lowest band, all that money per month and you dont see anything for it, at least with leccy and gas you feel the benefits in your home!
£3.50 a week rent Bernie? is that all? It's odd them putting your DD up, maybe they know something we dont? Like the prices are going through the roof??? I think your gas boiler needs looking at too if its over 200 quid a quarter?? omg, I have my heating on all dayfrom 630 am to 1030 pm, plus I have a gas hob, used daily, and my water comes from the gas heating too, and I was moaning because mine had gone up 20 quid to 140 lol...least it was over the Crimbo period so could explain a rise !
Think how rich we'd all be if we didnt have to pay for essential things like this *sigh*

i did end up paying for it because basically it was my word against theirs. i KNEW we hadn't tampered with the toilet cistern, but because they took a final meter reading when they handed the keys over, that was that, nothing i could do about it.

Sorry to hear you paid Dreama ,if it was me I would have taken it further or paid just a % and let them take me to court for the rest ! then see who would have won.
