Changing Genre

I was like a proper rocker lol , i loved all the heavy tuned guitars the fast and heavy drummers, but im seeing a bit of a change im listening to alot more Chemical Brothers and lighter music, i guess my mum will be happy as she hates all the stuff i listen to (most of it) i'll try not to forget about the rock music though because Download 2008 is in the summer and i'd love to go so im saving for it, but if i start to dislike rock/metal i wont want to go lol is there any suggestions for any songs i should listen to??

I like all kinds of music, I think when you get older you start to like all kinds of music, I would suggest listening to Timbalands latest album, You can borrow it if you want

first band i liked was Iron Maiden.
first record i bought was Poison by Alice Cooper (still got it, he's one of my faves!).

through my teens i liked virtually everything rock & some metal; Skid Row, Little Angels (b4 they got crap!), Thunder (ha ha! can't believe i actually liked them), The Almighty.... and many other bands who've long since disappeared. later i realised selling their vinyl picture discs & limited editions could earn big bucks (i think the money went toward my first car ). no regrets on getting rid of those, but strangely, in the last few years i've got back into the 80s Iron Maiden stuff.

along the way i also got into a few bands i still like today; The Sisters Of Mercy, Guns N' Roses, Zodiac Mindwarp & The Love Reaction, Twisted "i wanna rock!" Sister, Doctor & The Medics...

early 90s i got into Industrial Metal music. for the uninitiated, Industrial Metal is like heavy metal crossed with hard dance or electro music. leaders in this genre are still going strong today, though still remain unknown to many; bands like Skinny Puppy, Frontline Assembly, K.M.F.D.M., Front 242, Nitzer Ebb, My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, Nine Inch Nails, etc.
these few bands have lasted decades & the music world is only now really catching on to their sounds. alot of the electro music on MTV dance features elements found in their tracks 20+ years ago!!
only in the last few years have i really appreciated the wonderful world of (good!) dance music, in fact some of you may remember the track Silence by Delerium a few years ago..? the guys behind that were actually the same as those in Frontline Assembly! [another Skippy fact!]

i still have my rock/metal roots in my heart, but i'll give most things a listen to, and yes, the Timbaland album's worth a listen (i heard the singles so many times i think they hammered a home in my head!)

Grew up listening to old school hard rock metal... led zeppelin deep purple black sabbath...

some hair bands ... poison, whitesnake,

more metal ... judas priest, iron maiden, metallica, even venom ...

the thunder from down under AC/DC -- it seems every party i went to in high school has an AC/DC soundtrack...

First "cassette" I bought: Kiss unmasked -- Kiss

First vinyl single -- "another brick in the wall (part 2)" Pink floyd and another I played till it popped was  "electric avenue " by eddie grant

As Ive said elsewhere, my early childhood was spent with Folk.. simon and garfunkel, gordon lightfoot, and joni mitchell... It was just as the war in vietnam ended and being in North America .. It was a turbulent time...

i also remember ...ABBA - I can sing almost all their songs by heart.. and my older sisters crushes on the Bay City Rollers and andy gibb...

University I mentioned in another thread... hard edged music NIN, White Zombie, Ministry... and that grunge phase ... soundgarden, pearl jam..

I can really say I've listened to a wide variety of music and even in phases I love a lot of different stuff... I can't help but  sing along with Bob Marley or some old def leppard etc...
