chicken pox

My poor little boy henry has now got chicken pox for which i have wanted him to have for ages to get it over and done with. Unfortunatley it has got infected and now has impetigo aswell which is causing havoc for him.  Henry slept in bed with us till 2 am last nite as he kept waking up hysterically itching and scratching the impetigo which is on his chest and under his armpit.  The worse thing he now has to have antibiotics which tastes so bad I have to force it done him PLUS PUTTING A FEAR of medicine into him .

Awww poor little bugger! Usually the antibiotics taste nice, can't you ask for some that does, the last thing you want him to do is be afraid of it especially when he needs it so bad. I'm sure when Scott had impetigo he had an antibiotic cream?  Perhaps you could ask for that instead? Hope he gets better soon, it's not nice for them but it is best they get it out of the way when they are young. ((((((((((((Henry))))))))))))))

He has the fusidic cream too but cos its so severe he needs the extra inside him. Worse thing with the cream is they say to remove the scabs/crust to get the cream in / I cant do that the poor little might wont let me near it xx

((((Henry)))) Poor mite.. I remember having chickenpox ( didn't get then till i was 17) and it's a nightmare.
Your mum showed me the picture of the one he has on his chest n it looks really sore.
Hope it clears quickly for him.
Is there anything you can add to the medicine ? ...like put it in a spoonful of jam or something

Wow, that sounds rough. I remember chicken pox but I guess mine were mild cause I don't remember too much pain/annoyance/itching/etc.

oh poor((((((henry)))))))))) I'm sure you've  are aware that impetigo is very catching , make sure you all use separate flannels , towels etc . if med is tablet form try crushing in his favourite jam  to hide the bitter taste .

ah bless,, though i'm surprised they told you to pick of scabs as that leads to scarriing if you can put some cotton gloves on him to stop him from scratching.

Ah thanx peeps for all the advice. he seems to be doin ok today, tonite will be the clincher.  The medicine is in liquid form and we are trying everything adding a little to his juice so he can drink all day adding sugar to make it sweeter its so damn bitter.  The cream seems to be helping and the piriton is a life saver.  Ill keep you all up dated xx

Amber- i read that advice about removing the crust from the help sites on the internet although i would never do it nature will heal it
