Men at the birth?Been watching the debates on tv this week about whether or not men should be present at the birth. What do you reckon? Were your hubbies /partners at the birth of any of your children? Would you want your future births to be attended by them? Did it put you off having them in again? Or did it help?

My first wife wanted me there for both the twins and my daughters birth. She said it helped a great deal. I also wanted to be there. But from my point of view it was very upsetting to see her in such pain.

I didn't want Paul in with me. No way did I want him to see me pulling faces in pain lol not only that, he's very squeamish and would probably have passed out. Then I'd have spent all my time worrying if he was OK instead of myself ! My mum came in with me for both of my sons births Paul waited in the fathers room with the tv lol...much better all round...well for me anyway.

I think i'd want my partner there, i think he'd wanna be there aswell, although if he didn't i wouldn't make him.
I guess its up to mum and dad really and how they feel

I only wanted my hubby mark to be there no one else . I cant say he helped much as hes not the sympathetic type lol but Im glad he was with me. Mark did say it was the most emotional and worst 3 days of his life seeing me in pain. (He should have tried it lol )

I had to have an emergency cesarean, so didnt have much choice in the matter as it all happened so quick (cord prolapse) but I can remember the nurse giving him the drip to push while I was wheeled in.
He was allowed to watch once I was under the anesthetic.

I think I'd want my guy to be there, and if he didn't I'd feel bad, but I wouldn't make him go.

I'd definitely want my other half there. You created a baby together, so should welcome it in together - after all you're both it's parents! Although it would be a bit gross..

I think I'd want to be alone, people get on my wick when I'm in pain, so I'd rather fly solo I think, might change my mind if I ever decide to have a baby
