No more Bank Charges

I thought that might get your attention. But it's true. The Think Banking (created by the Newcastle Building Society) in conjunction with the Royal Bank of Scotland have come up with a winner. The following is taken from their website.......

How the account works

The think-banking account gives you the advantage of two special accounts that work together to take care of your financial commitments - whilst looking after your personal spending needs.

Your think-banking account gives you the peace of mind that comes from knowing there’s enough money set aside to meet all your financial obligations.

We do this in three easy steps:
Step 1

Your income is paid into your Salaries Account

Step 2

Your personal Money Manager will set aside the money you need to pay your regular commitments.

Step 3

We transfer the remaining funds into your Card Account, which you use when you pay with your card or withdraw cash at cash machines, shops and restaurants.

Want to hear more:

Can't get a bank account?
Now you can!

Whatever your situation, you can open a think-banking managed bank account - the account unlike any other.

What you get:

Interested? i thoiught you might be then ring them now on 0800 074 7772

Even if by some remote chance you do get over drawn or a directy debit gets returned you will incure ABSOLUTELY NO CHARGES. I know this is a type of advertising but i thought too important to keep to myself. I opened an account wiuth them a few weeks ago and have never looked back since.

ohhhhhhhhhhh thanks for this seymour  sounds a lot better.will get hubby to look into this and they may well have a new customer

My pleasure. Also, if money is payed into your account on a friday you sometimes have to wait till monday for it to clear, not anymore, cos they'll clear funds  on the weekend for you. I won't kid you they do charge a nominal monthly fee for all this but it's negligable against what you would have been charged.

ahhhhh so there ARE bank charges lol.  i personally completely disagree with bank charges aswell, having been stung once a few weeks ago, BUT it was entirely my fault and now i check online every day just in case i slip again.  i personally think internet banking is the answer, you can check your account every day then if you want to.
Seymour

Yes you can check your account online, but it doesn't tell you when direct debits are going out only when they should be going out. Take SkyTV for example, they are supposed to take their money on the 1st of each month. But in actual fact they can take their money up to 7 days b4 and 7 days after. I can't run my accounts by second guessing when people are likely to take their money. At least with the Think Bank they can take it when they feel like it i don't  have to worry, it will always be paid.
Dreama

well why can't you just leave your money in from the 7 days before each month then?
Seymour

If I got paid once a month i could do that, but i have 3 lots of money going in at different times so you see for me it's difficult to work things out. With a Think Banking account i don't have that difficulty the working out is all done for me with no worries of dd's going unpaid. Plus their open 24/7 whereas other banks are not.

The easiest way to decide is if you've never incurred charges on your account then stay where you are if however you incure regular charges through no fault of your own then the Think Bank account will save you a fortune.
Dreama

i feel like i'm being argumentati9ve here..but i'm not at all BUT.... lol, once i got bank charges and it was entirely my fault because i didn't leave enough money in my account to cover a SO i knew was going out.  i didn't like it, i was furious WITH MYSELF, but i had no one to blame but myself!  if you incur REGULAR bank charges, its entirely your responsibility, how can you say through no fault of your own? i don't understand that??!!  having said all that, if you have trouble keeping up with your own finances, then paying a bank to do it for you is a good idea i agree.
Seymour

We at least agree on one thing, LOL! When i said through no fault of your own i meant if you have your money going in on say, a monday and you have a DD due out on the tuesday, sometimes that DD may go out on the friday before. Therefore its not your fault or the banks fault, it's the fault of the person who requested the DD. Having said that, even if it was your fault, with the Think Bank you don't have to worry about it.

We could go opn debating this for ever. Ther are, i believe, good points for both sides as well as bad ones. I think it should be up to the individual to decide which bank account he/she wishes to have. Since joining the Think Banking, i've never looked back. I like the fact that as soon as money is paid in to your account they text you and let you know how much and the balance.

Whats the charge for Think Banking Mick?
Seymour

I was waiting for someone to ask that. It's £12.50/month, which is nothing compared to the bank charges i've had in the past, some of which were my fault some were not. Take 2 months ago, i had bank charges of £120, half of which was my fault.
Serenity

omg! Well in your case thats £12.50 well spent! lol....I would rather save my £125 per year, by making sure I was covered lol, but thats because I'm tight It's a great idea and for people like you, a lot cheaper to have Think Banking!! lol
Seymour

That's right, plus there's the added bonus of never having to try to work my finances out on a weekly basis cos it's all done for me. I know that what is in my account i can use and not have to think wether i need to keep some by for a bill.
