Thankfully it's youngest daughters turn to bung the pots in the dishwasher and turn it on! Doubt she will empty it though!

Funny isn't it how you can spend hours preparing a nice meal yet they always seem to enjoy the quickie meals more. Why do we o it LOL

Serenity wrote:

Boiled potatoes, chopped onions and corned beef stewed long in butter and milk. When cooked, potatoes are mashed (or hashed). Traditionally served as a nourishing main course accompanied by red cabbage or pickled beetroot.

I use minced beef instead of corned beef and I don't mash (hash) the spuds lol.

Nor do I cook it in butter and milk!

Damn looks like I have been making it wrong all these years!

Not sure why the link came out like that LOL

But some recipes on there I haven't heard of before, might even try some. Not the tripe and onions though YUK!
Monica

oh the link came out okay when I submitted it lol
Serenity

So its like a mixed up shepards pie by the sounds of it lol...I think my mum in law used to cook /mash spuds then put them on top of corned beef in a pudding bowl, gawd knows what she did after tho lol Never had it myself, wasn't that a war- time thing?
Serenity

I just checked out that link and saw Tripe and Onions remember my nan loving this!! Boiled cows lining of the stomach , how exotic lol, and chitlings too ewwww ( no offence to anyone eating this still lol ) yet she wouldnt eat a Chinese used to call it foreign muck!! lol
Amber

my day off cooking hubby is doing a stew with dumplings love dumplings, so looking forward to me tea

have you ever noticed how food always taste better when someone else cooks it????
Monica

Okay here is how I make it lol

I chop onions, potatoes and carrots up (diced) place them all in a large pan with minced beef and cover with water. Add salt and pepper, bring to the boil then simmer until cooked!

Sometimes I add bisto and make a think crust (pastry) when it's cooked, I put the pastry on top and put it in the oven.

It's so easy to make and tasty too. I suppose it's like a casserole?

We always have red cabbage or beetroot with it.
Serenity

Whats this someone else cooking it thing? I wouldnt know! lol and where do I find myself a hubby that cooks?
Thumper

Serenity

Sounds nice jo, I only ever made a curry once, and it nearly blew Pauls head off, although his mum assured me It'd be mild lol....He's stayed away from Curry ever since, and I only have it from the Chinese if I fancy it
northern lass

oh its got to be hot! not a curry otherwise is it? do you like it hot seren'?
Serenity

I usually have a mild one from the Chinese, and I ask them not to put onions in it, I like a little spice but otherwise It burns my delicate mouth lol

I loveeeeee Chilli beef from the Chinese too, the other month I ate a whole dish to myself. Loveeerrrly..The next morning I got up I couldnt swallow, and I had a rasping feeling up and down my windpipe....everything I ate I couldnt get past this lump even swallowing was painful, (quite scary too)!!! I think I burnt the lining of my windpipe fgs lol I've learnt my lesson!
Memph1s

aaah i love a chinese! something i have got hooked on lately is chow mein! id never really had anything more than a curry or one of the english meals from a chinese before and i dont like sweet and sour sauce. but kellys ex let me try chow mein when he had some and i fell in love straight away!

just looked in the fridge/freezer and theres either a microwave lazagne or grillsteaks i know which i would prefer
northern lass

i apologise in advance, but that is sooooooooooooooooooooooo funny, you daft bat! lol! we like chilli beef too, in fact anything spicy and i'll give it a go.......really funny cause hubby gets a real sweat on and gulps water but says NOTHING, i just pretend to not notice, bless him!
Serenity

oiii ya meany !!! lol I must admit at the chinese we go to, they give you a basket of prawn crakers and put a little dish of red sauce on the table too. I grabbed one and dipped it heavily in the sauce, which was in fact chilli sauce ffs.. nearly blew my tongue off!!! Shelley informed me after to only put a tiny bit on lol ...........

Dave have you ever gone to the Oriental Palace at West Winch, all you can eat for 14 quid per head...its fab....I wasn't a great Chinese lover...but after going there I LOVE it!! You can all order what you like then try a little bit of everything, and the mixed houerderves for starters are great...we nearly fill up on the starters and its great to try what others like without wasting a whole dish ooooo and crispy aromatic duck with pancakes mmm mmm
Memph1s

ive never eaten out at a chinese, prefer to order in. when i lived at my 'rents place we used to have chinese nights but i still only had curry.

i hear aroma in lynn is v. good
