Residents parking chargesA report in the Lib/Lab Demoocrat council to adopt a policy to charge residents to park outside their homes , approved by the Lib/Lab cabinet on the 17th March 2008 clearly states " all types of permits should attract a fee ", until now residents who have parking permits do not pay for the first car. plans have now been drawn up to charge £57 a year to be introduced after the May 1st local elections , this is the equivalent of a 5% hike in council tax for some households .
I believe this is totally out of order and just another way of councils getting more money , and we all now that it won't stay at £57 for long what if you have more than 1 car does that mean you have to pay per car , per household ? talk about bleed ppl dry why don't we just work all week and hand our wages over to the council !!!!!! it's absolulately disgusting , most ppl have cars to be able to get to work we are not all in the position of having drive ways for god sake ppl I'M beginning to think I would be better of giving up work and living on benefits , no wounder theis country is going down the pan grrrrrrrrrrrrr

WHAT !!!! that is disgusting ,ok we have a drive so 1 car in there but would mean 2 on road which are hubbies & son's for work. I can now see people digging up front gardens and getting cars parked on there, but then if we all did that some bright spark would come up with an extra charge tto park in garden.
HOW would this work though if you are visiting family/freinds, would that mean they have to pay for parking for visitors.
I give up----- going on benefits i would be rich, having help with bill's ,could even afford a holiday.

OMG thats bloody scandalous!!! As if we don't pay enough with road tax fgs, they can't be serious???? We've already pulled up our hedge, had the curb lowered to park on our front garden! But like you say, when kids get cars of their own there wouldnt be enough room for all of us to get off road. I think its absolutely ludicrous, and just another way to extort money from us grrrrrrrr this sort of thing really angers me !
