I've literally just read the report. The Sun say she was under a bed at her grandparent's house. Now other reports claim she was in/under a bed at an unknown male's address.

I think so too Debs - There was an earlier report by school friends who said she was upset to go home and was seen sitting on a wall crying after school. Apparently she has gone away before. I think something is definately going on under the surface here.

Craig Meehan has been arrested over indecent images of childrenPolice investigating the disappearance of schoolgirl Shannon Matthews have arrested her stepfather Craig Meehan.

The 22-year-old was held on suspicion of possessing indecent images of children.

West Yorkshire Police said the suspect, who they did not name, was detained after officers examined a number of computers during the search for the nine-year-old, who went missing for nearly four weeks.

Meehan lives with Shannon's mother Karen Matthews at Moorside Road in Dewsbury Moor.

Shannon disappeared on her way home from a school swimming trip on February 19.

She was found 24 days later at the house of Meehan's uncle in Batley Carr, a mile from her home.

Michael Donovan, 39, of Lidgate Gardens, Dewsbury, was later charged with Shannon's kidnapping and imprisonment.

His trial has been provisionally set for November 11 at Leeds Crown Court.

Hundreds of officers and 60 detectives were involved in the three week search for Shannon.

Shannon has not returned home since she was found.

I told my hubby when she first went missing the S/F is something to do with this, and now we know the real reason police wouldn't let her go home, they obviusly had there suspicions.

Did you hear today that the mother and sister of the step father have been arrested or questioned also , ,oh there is a lot more to this yet to come i think.

Did i hear shannon has gone back to her mum , if so i dont think she should , i think her mother knows more then she is letting on . hope i'm wrong but i just sense this.

read in yest paper that mum (karen ) was leaving her hubby to run away with the uncle who had Shannon , told a taxi driver the day before she was found that Shannon would be back tomorrow , and the next day she was found , mum had even spoke to Shannon on the phone whilst she was missing , I'm starting to think thata this was all planned as a way of getting money ,from newspapers or am I being cynical ? if all this turns out to be true the whole bloody lot of them need locking up and the kids taken away from them , Shannon has reportedly told the police that she spoke to her mum a couple of times whilst missing and refuses to go back home . that poor child !!!!

well the whole family has been arrested, inlcuding the mother, and apparently the whole thing was a plot to get money from the public, like the mcCanns got to help with the search. the mother was allowed to see shannon for 3 and a half hours a few days ago, and when the visit was over she told shannon she was going to fight to get her back, and shannon said she didn't want to. the other children have been taken into care aswell now.

O M G !! How frikkin sad! People like that make my blood boil. I saw on the news she'd been arrested but hadn't heard why yet, the poor bloody kids, what ever must be going through their heads? Shannon must realise, being in fostercare, how nice kids can be treat, and how comfy life can be, IF you have a caring family around you. Which she obvisouly didnt have before bless her. Some people are dispicable beyond belief!

I heard the search for Shannon cost in the region of 5million , obviosly her mother dos'nt have that kind of cash but they should bemade to pay some back , I hope she never has her kid's back ,she say's she loves her kid's well i'm sorry but a mother that love's her kid's would never do that,and to have the audacity to enquire about geting money from the maddie mccann fund is unbelieable, just goes to show Money was the reason behind the whole lot.
The neighbours must be really angry about this whole eoisode , having there homes searched , giving there support, helping search and fearing for their own kid's safety, This woman has upset a whole lot of people in this country .

The mother of Shannon Matthews has been remanded in custody after appearing in court charged in connection with the nine-year-old's disappearance.

Karen Matthews, 32, of Moorside Road, Dewsbury Moor, West Yorkshire, faces charges of child neglect and perverting the course of justice.

The second charge states she "repeatedly concealed information" in relation to Shannon's whereabouts.

Ms Matthews was remanded in custody until 16 April.

Shannon vanished on 19 February and was found 24 days later after one of the county's largest missing person hunts.

The details of the child neglect charge state that she "wilfully neglected or abandoned" Shannon "in a manner likely to cause unnecessary suffering or injury to her health", between 18 February and 15 March.

The second charge states that Ms Matthews "repeatedly concealed information in relation to the whereabouts of Shannon Matthews in interviews and other contacts with officers with the West Yorkshire Police and claimed to have no knowledge of her whereabouts."

'Fair trial'

During the 13-minute hearing, Ms Matthews was flanked by four dock officers.

She arrived in handcuffs at Dewsbury Magistrates' Court after being driven from the town's police station.

More than a dozen police officers were stationed outside the vehicle entrance to the court as the white prison vehicle entered the complex.

Ms Matthews was arrested on Sunday and charged with the offences on Tuesday night.
