The first movie you saw at the Cinema? My first Cinema experience was to see Bambi. I remember my nan taking us. Sitting on those red velvet covered seats, sitting up the top balcony, feeling OH so grand! Buying icecream from the usherette, funny how that sticks in your mind. The second film she took us to see was Walt Disneys Seven Dwarfs, it was marvellous, and I couldn't have been very old.
So what was your first Cinema outing to see?

I think Iit was called the dark crystal, I cant really remember that much about the film. But I can remember my friend Kerry, Running round the balcony screaming, and her Mum Linda chasing her. Our mum never took us to the cinema with them again lol

Golly this takes me back. Used to go to the Saturday matinee. The town practically emptied of kids in those days with everyone at the pictures. Got into the picutres with a bag of sweets for less than a shilling (that's abot the same as today's 10p coin for all you young things!
Can't mind the very first film but I remember the serial they used to play
"Flash Gordon" - now I am giving my age away but good good times

I remember going to the Saturday morning pictures. We used to get 25p pocket money and that got us in the cinema and a bag of sherbet from the sweet shop oppostie. I remember singing along with the words on the screen that were highlighted by a bouncing ball, 'We are the girls and boys well known as minors of the ABC'! can't remember any more words lol. Each week they showed episodes from various films, one was a space film about a metal frog like spaceship some kids had found. Another was an Arabian adventure, all great fun, as long as you didn't miss a week lol.
Going back to the sherbet, it was the bright coloured sand-like stuff, served from huge jars, I used to like a mixture of pink and yellow, they put it in a paper bag for you, then we'd sit all through the film, dipping our finger in and sucking it off, to come out in the daylight with a brightly dyed finger!! Wonder what they put in that stuff? lol you dont see it nowadays...ahhhh those were the days

I do remember that! I loved it, shame I didnt like the pirate ship at hunny as much haha. I remember getting told off for running around with a pointed flag stick pretending to kill people with it (copying a film) and it was a flag you had bought us at the circus. Needless to say I had it confiscated for a while
|
Thumper
|
LMFAO @ you and the flag!!!!
|
Serenity

Now she just runs around pretending to kill people with NO flag lol xx

Thumper

What happened Saturday night C'mon SPILL
|
ImBlonde
|
Haha, well!
Sunday morning I went into Woolies to see my friend Craig who had taken me home that night. He said to me, 'Jade, do you remember what happened with that bloke?' I said, 'No, what bloke?' Craig said, 'The bloke with the handbag, about 30ish, quite big?' I have almost no recollection of what he looked like.
Apparently, he had stood on my foot whilst I was dancing. I then proceeded to turn round, call him an 'Effin C' and put my fists up. He then apparently put his fists up back to me and Craig had to pull me away and apologise and say I was drunk
Oh dear. Not good. Must get it from Jodie Haha.

Good gawd Jade!! lol

Don't worry babe, one day you'll be able to handle your drink
And are you trying to say sweet Jodie is aggressive
|
ImBlonde

I think it was more that I mixed my drinks - usually I stick to Archers and Lemonade, but I also had a big mouthful of Fosters and voddy and coke too.
Jodie, aggressive? Never

The first movie I ever saw at a theatre I think was Star Wars or maybe it was Star Trek. Can't quite remember lol. I remember going with my parents and grandparents and secretly passing around homemade peanut brittle as snacks as my fuddy duddy grandma found paying for theatre food an abomination lol.
The first movie I remember going to see alone as a kid (well with my brother who is a year older than me) was either ET or 101 Dalmations. I remember trying not to cry at the end of ET in case my brother should notice and make fun of me as he so often did so I yawned and stretched my way through the ending without shedding a tear - and then looked over at my brother who was bawling his eyes out LMAO. Ahhh a wonderful trip down memory lane
|
Serenity
|
lol you'd have to be pretty emotionally baron NOT to cry at ET !
|
Thumper
|
I can still remeber how Jodie and I sobbed for hours after E.T, and two older lads who sat behind us were taking the mickey out of us, so our Mum told him off LMAO

hi Shell,
first flick i saw at the pictures was probably Fox & The Hound; well, that's earliest one i remember seeing, it was way too many moons ago!! (i do remember i used to see several flicks at the Pilot cinema - the venue most recently known at Zoots!!!).
i think it was your typical disney type family pic, where fox & hound shouldn't be friends but become friends anyway (ooooh, them rebels!) & i think the fox probably got caught in a trap or died at the end, you know, typical slushy ending.
|
Serenity
|
Are you sure you're only 30 Skippy? lol I remember the Pilot, used to like that better than the Majestic, shame they closed it down Fox and the Hound rings a bell, think I musta seen it on tv though. Funny when you see things at the flicks, that no matter how long ago it was, you still remember it!
|
Skippy X
|
of course i'm only 30!!!? (i think....)
yep, Pilot cinema was cool, remember seeing Empire Strikes Back there.
first flick i remember at Majestic was probably Revolution (the Al Pacino flick that had Ricky from Eastenders in it...??), i know i suffered during the film, as big guy next to me was smoking cigars all the way through - how things change.
|
Serenity
|
Oh gawd I'd forgotten you used to be allowed to smoke in there! lol Cigars? omg ! Star Wars films were brill in the cinema, especially coz the sound was always pumped up full blast, great effects.
|
Skippy X

i love knowing i saw great flicks at cinema as a kid that i still think are cool (E.S.B, Return Of Jedi, Big Trouble Little China, etc.), means i didn't waste all my youth! hee hee!

Although It wasn't the first film I saw ... Star Wars when it came out in 1977 was outstanding.. The line up when I went to the only cinema in a city of 10000 was about 2 blocks long...
I remember seeing "The return of the Pink Panther" and that may have been the 1st movie I saw.. I really love peter sellers in the classic pink panther movies... I like Steve Martin but it just isn't the same..
