I remember all the different things you could do with a yo-yo and the whip and perie.  The old ones were wooden and you used to chalk designs on the top all different colours - wrapped the leather thong around it and snapped it away. We used to have competitions to see who could keep them up the longest whipping away at them.  Some used to go a fair distance - The manufacturers try to bring these things back at intervals but there plastic and they don't work the same as the old ones

i taught my nephew  some of the yoyo tricks a few years ago he thought he was dead cool going into school and showing them to his mates lol

Around the world
Walking the dog
rocking the baby
jumping the fence

thats all i remembered ..lol remember nearly killing my bro Dee doing around the world with one of the coca cola yoyos from the 70s..they were thick heavy hard plastic... not good getting hit on the head with one of them.
